Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts in Quezon City, Philippines, seeks a Chief Accountant to oversee hotel accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain strong internal controls in line with policy and standards. You will supervise daily activities and mentor finance staff to drive accuracy and efficiency.

Lead month-end close, assist audits, and coordinate with department heads to ensure sound financial practices across the hotel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or closely related field required.
• CPA qualification preferred.
• At least 4–5 years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience, preferably in hotel/hospitality.
• Prior supervisory experience in Accounting/Finance preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Good understanding of Philippine taxation and statutory reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hotel accounting or financial systems advantageous.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• High integrity and confidentiality in handling financial information.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting activities and ensure timely, accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and financial reports.
• Review general ledger accounts and ensure balances are properly supported and reconciled.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, payroll-related accounting, and other finance transactions as required.
• Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with hotel financial policies and procedures.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis.
• Coordinate and provide supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with department leaders to resolve accounting issues and maintain accurate financial information.
• Supervise, guide, and develop Finance colleagues to enhance accounting knowledge and capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Support the Director of Finance & Business Support with financial reporting and analysis.

As our Chief Accountant, you will support the Director of Finance & Business Support in overseeing the hotel’s accounting operations and ensuring financial transactions and reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with established policies and standards. You will supervise key accounting functions, maintain effective internal controls, support financial reporting and audits, and work closely with hotel departments to ensure sound financial practices across the business.

Your day to day

What we need from you

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or a closely related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is preferred.
• At least 4–5 years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience, preferably within the hotel or hospitality industry.
• Previous supervisory experience in an Accounting or Finance function is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Good understanding of Philippine taxation and statutory reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications; experience with hotel accounting or financial systems is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines, particularly during month-end and year-end closing.
• Good communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality when handling financial information.
