Job summary

nXscale seeks a hands-on Café/Store Manager to lead the day-to-day operations for a client’s café, overseeing opening/closing, inventory, POS, and staff scheduling while ensuring consistent food and service quality.

You will hire/train baristas, coach the team, and foster a positive culture. This role offers growth toward larger operating responsibilities and opportunities like new locations, catering, or product lines.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of experience in café, restaurant, or retail management (or strong supervisory experience in a similar setting).
• Comfortable with hands-on daily operations - this is not a purely administrative role.
• Strong organizational skills and comfort with basic inventory/cash management.
• Genuine interest in hospitality and building a great customer experience.
• Entrepreneurial mindset - excited by the idea of helping shape what this business becomes, not just maintaining it.
• Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain one) is a plus.
• Willing to assist with other operational and business needs as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory: ordering, receiving, stock rotation, and minimizing waste.
• Handle point-of-sale operations, cash reconciliation, and basic bookkeeping support.
• Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and health-code compliance.
• Hire, train and schedule baristas/staff as the team grows.
• Coach the team on service standards and handle day-to-day performance issues.
• Foster a positive, low-drama environment where a small team can do great work.
• Be a visible presence on the floor, resolving customer concerns quickly and warmly.
• Gather and act on customer feedback to improve offerings and service.
• Partner with ownership on ideas for expansion - new locations, product lines, catering, wholesale or events.
• Help build the systems (SOPs, training materials, vendor relationships) that will let the business scale smoothly.
• Bring a builder's mindset: comfortable wearing multiple hats today, with the chance to grow into a bigger operating role tomorrow.
