The Cadet Shift Engineer is responsible for supporting the daily operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of plant equipment and utilities. The role provides hands‑on engineering experience by assisting in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, maintaining safety standards, and supporting production requirements. The Cadet Shift Engineer works closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining production equipment, utilities, and facilities.
- Participate in preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Support troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and instrumentation issues.
- Ensure timely resolution of equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Assist in equipment inspections and condition monitoring activities.
Production Support
- Provide engineering support during production operations.
- Coordinate with production personnel to address equipment-related concerns.
- Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in startup, shutdown, and changeover activities.
Asset Reliability
- Support implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
- Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Assist in developing improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Help monitor key maintenance performance indicators.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, GMP, food safety, and environmental requirements.
- Participate in safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Promote safe work practices at all times.
- Ensure proper use of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare maintenance reports, work orders, and equipment records.
- Update maintenance management systems and equipment history.
- Document equipment failures, repairs, and corrective actions.
Projects and Continuous Improvement
- Support engineering projects involving equipment installation, modification, or improvement.
- Participate in cost-reduction, energy-saving, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to 5S and continuous improvement programs within the engineering department.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Technical Competencies
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with pumps, motors, conveyors, compressors, boilers, and production equipment.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in FMCG Industry is a must!
