Job summary

Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) invites applications for an Assistant Manager - Buyer to support category management and sourcing execution for Fresh - Butchery. You will work with the Category Manager to shape assortment and pricing as we grow our wholesale footprint.

The role emphasizes supplier relationships and analytics to drive profitability, quality, and compliance with food safety standards across sourcing to store shelf.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 4–5 years of experience in buying, category management, or merchandising in retail, wholesale, or FMCG.
• Experience with meat, poultry, or butchery products is a strong advantage.
• Working knowledge of food safety and quality standards for fresh/perishable categories.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of category strategy, assortment planning, and pricing for Butchery products.
• Manage supplier sourcing, negotiation, and relationship to secure favorable terms.
• Monitor trading agreements, promotions, and margin performance, flagging risks and opportunities.
• Analyze sales data and market trends to support category growth opportunities and product mix decisions.
• Ensure products meet freshness, quality, and food safety standards from sourcing through to store shelf.
• Coordinate with Marketing, Store Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure category execution at store level.
