Job summary

Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) is seeking an Assistant Manager - Buyer (Global Sourcing) to manage, conceptualize, develop, and purchase global products in line with company guidelines, achieving launch, sales, and profit targets for the category as we grow our wholesale footprint in the Philippines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field.
• Minimum 4-5 years of experience in category management, buying, or merchandising, with exposure to import/global sourcing.
• Working knowledge of import processes, customs documentation, and international trade terms (Incoterms).
• Knowledge of food safety and quality standards for fresh/perishable categories.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and cross-border supplier coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of category strategy, assortment planning, and pricing for Fresh products sourced internationally
• Identify and evaluate potential overseas suppliers and exporters, assisting in negotiation and onboarding
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely and compliant import of fresh products
• Monitor international trading agreements, landed costs, and margin performance, flagging risks and opportunities to the Category Manager
• Ensure imported products meet freshness, quality, and food safety standards, including compliance with local import regulations
• Analyze global market trends, pricing, and supply availability to support category growth and sourcing decisions
• Coordinate with Marketing, Store Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth category execution at store level
