Makro Philippines (CP AXTRA AC Corporation) is seeking an Assistant Manager - Buyer (Global Sourcing) to manage, conceptualize, develop, and purchase global products in line with company guidelines, aiming to launch, grow sales, and secure profits for the category as we expand our wholesale footprint in the Philippines.

You will identify international suppliers, coordinate import processes, and monitor costs and compliance to ensure freshness and food safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
• 4–5 years of experience in category management, buying, or merchandising with exposure to import/global sourcing.
• Knowledge of import processes, Incoterms, and international trade terms.
• Understanding of fresh/food safety standards for perishables is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support category strategy, assortment planning, and pricing for Fresh products sourced internationally.
• Identify and evaluate overseas suppliers; assist in negotiation and onboarding.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers for compliant imports.
• Monitor landed costs, margins, and international trade agreements; flag risks and opportunities.
• Ensure imported products meet freshness, quality, and local food safety standards.
• Analyze global market trends to support sourcing decisions and category growth.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Store Operations, and Supply Chain for store-level execution.

The venture aims to introduce differentiated wholesale format and assortment to the Philippines to address unmet local demand for high-quality, fresh food products.

About the Role:

Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) is looking for a Assistant Manager - Buyer (Global Sourcing) to manage, conceptualize, develop, and purchase global products in line with company guidelines, achieving launch, sales, and profit targets for the category as we grow our wholesale footprint in the Philippines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development and execution of category strategy, assortment planning, and pricing for Fresh products sourced internationally
• Identify and evaluate potential overseas suppliers and exporters, assisting in negotiation and onboarding
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely and compliant import of fresh products
• Monitor international trading agreements, landed costs, and margin performance, flagging risks and opportunities to the Category Manager
• Ensure imported products meet freshness, quality, and food safety standards, including compliance with local import regulations
• Analyze global market trends, pricing, and supply availability to support category growth and sourcing decisions
• Coordinate with Marketing, Store Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth category execution at store level

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field
• Minimum 4-5 years of experience in category management, buying, or merchandising, with exposure to import/global sourcing — retail, wholesale, or FMCG background preferred
• Working knowledge of import processes, customs documentation, and international trade terms (e.g., Incoterms)
• Working knowledge of food safety and quality standards for fresh/perishable categories
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and cross-border supplier coordination skills
