Position Summary: The Business Process Automation Analyst is critical in laying the foundation for successful digital transformation by providing in-depth data analysis and process understanding. This role focuses on the initial stages of the automation lifecycle: identifying, documenting, and analyzing existing business processes and the associated data. The analyst ensures that the data used for process analysis and subsequent automation development is clean, reliable, and accurate, directly supporting the Business Process Automation Specialist and other technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Documentation & Mapping: Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to thoroughly document current-state ('As-Is') business processes using process mapping and flowcharts to clearly identify steps, decision points, and potential bottlenecks.
Data Acquisition & Cleaning: Acquire, prepare, and manage data sets relevant to the business processes under review. This includes:
Performing data cleaning, validation, and scrubbing to ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy before analysis.
Identifying and resolving data quality issues, missing values, and inconsistencies.
Creating and maintaining standardized data dictionaries and documentation.
Data Analysis & Metrics: Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on process data to identify root causes of inefficiencies, assess the feasibility and potential return on investment (ROI) of automation opportunities, and establish baseline performance metrics.
Reporting & Visualization: Develop and maintain dashboards and reports (e.g., using Power BI, Tableau) that track process performance and key performance indicators (KPIs), highlighting areas ripe for improvement or automation.
Requirements Gathering: Assist the Specialist and technical teams by translating analytical findings and documented processes into clear, detailed business and functional requirements for automation solutions (e.g., RPA, workflow tools).
Continuous Improvement Support: Contribute to process improvement initiatives by supporting the application of methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma principles to eliminate waste and non-value-added activities.
Testing & Validation: Participate in the user acceptance testing (UAT) phase of new automation deployments, focusing on validating the output data and ensuring the automated process accurately reflects the design requirements.
Cross-Functional Communication: Facilitate effective communication between business units and the technical automation team, ensuring a shared understanding of process flows, data needs, and project status.
Technical Assistance: Utilize basic programming skills (SQL, Python) to extract data, perform complex data manipulation, and create analytic models to support process optimization efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
Proven proficiency in advanced MS Excel functions (VBA Macro) and SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and querying.
Demonstrated experience or a deep understanding of data cleaning, validation, and preparation techniques.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with acute attention to detail.
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Airtable Mastery (Highly Preferred): Proficiency in building and maintaining Airtable bases, including the use of advanced formulas, Interface Designer, and native automations to track workflows or data.
A basic understanding of business process modeling notation (BPMN) or similar process mapping techniques.
Familiarity with AI, machine learning, and automation concepts is highly desirable.
