Job summary

Manulife Financial is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to design, build, test, and deploy BI solutions using Power Apps, Power BI, and other modern tools. You will partner with users, product owners, and data engineers to translate business needs into data-driven deliverables.

The role includes creating Canvas and Model-Driven Apps with Dataverse/SharePoint, building dashboards in Power BI, QlikView, QlikSense, and Tableau, and mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field with Business Intelligence.
• 5+ years hands-on experience developing BI solutions using Power BI, QlikView, or QlikSense.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with users, product owners & data engineers to design, develop and maintain BI solutions (Applications, dashboard & interactive reporting tools on key business measures).
• Design and develop Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps using Microsoft Dataverse, SharePoint, or other databases as backend data storage.
• Build custom connectors and leverage Dataverse (CDS) for data modelling and management.
• Translate business data needs into technical requirements, design, and implementation through data visualization.
• Develop, test and maintain BI dashboards to high standards using Power BI, QlikView, QlikSense, Tableau.
• Apply UI/UX best practices to craft visualizations that present clear information about business results and actions.
• Mentor junior team members and promote best practices for quality and consistency of solutions.
• Handle medium to high complexity projects and potentially use multiple BI tools per solution.
• Manage user access, report connections, and troubleshoot via management consoles/workspaces.

Job description

The Business Intelligence Developer will collaborate closely to the business and technical teams. Design, develop, test, and deploy custom apps using Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven) and Integrate Power Apps with other Microsoft services such as SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Teams, Power BI, and external data sources using Power Automate and connectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be partnered with users, product owners & data engineers to design, develop and maintain business intelligence solutions (Applications, dashboard & interactive reporting tools on key business measures)
• Design and development of Canvas App, and Model-Driven Apps by utilizing Microsoft Dataverse, SharePoint, or other databases as the backend data storage model
• Build custom connectors and leverage Dataverse (CDS) for data modelling and management.
• Work directly with business stakeholders and translate business data needs into technical requirements, design, and implementation thru data visualization.
• Develop, Test and Maintain BI Dashboard to high standards of quality and performance using the company approved BI Tools. (e.g. Power BI, Qlikview, QlikSense, Tableau)
• To utilize UI/UX best practices to craft visualizations that create a single, aligned version of truth, present clear information about business results & call for action.
• Responsible on training junior members of the team and assist on setting up and/or implementing best practices to ensure the quality and consistency of the solutions.
• Flexible on working with medium to high complex projects with a possibility on utilizing multiple BI tool for each solutions.
• To be able to provide and maintain user accesses, report connections and troubleshooting by navigating to the management consoles or workspaces.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree on Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, and any relevant field with Business Intelligence.
• Experience: At least 5+ years of hands‑on experiences on developing BI solutions preferably with Power BI, Qlikview, or QlikSense.
• Hybrid Work Arrangement: Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home anytime (dependent on business need AND/OR current external environment/situation)
• Shift Schedule (Mid Shift and Nigh Shift schedule) - Amenability to work on the assigned schedule (dependent on business need)

Minimum Skills to Hire / Technical Skills:

• Experience with Power Automate cloud flows, desktop flows, business process flows, and process advisor
• Experienced with BI technologies (e.g. Qlikview, QlikSense, Power BI)
• Pertinent experience in Data Modelling and Data Model normalization
• Solid understanding with the ETL methodology.
• Strong knowledge/proficiency of relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle) and Business Intelligence area.
• Understanding of design and development tools, SDLC methodologies and techniques, preferred
• Curiosity and analytical mindset – ability to ask the right questions and propose solutions. With strong evidence of being able to transform data into actionable insights.
• Experience on working in agile (SCRUM) is an advantage.
