What are the Roles and Responsibilities?

The Boiler Operator plays a crucial role in overseeing the efficient and safe operation of boiler systems within our sugar manufacturing and distillery plants. This role involves monitoring and controlling boiler parameters, performing routine inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Boiler Operation and Monitoring:

   • Operate and monitor boiler systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.

   • Adjust boiler controls to regulate temperature, pressure, and fuel supply according to operational requirements.

   • Monitor boiler parameters, such as pressure, temperature, and water levels, to detect and address any deviations or abnormalities.

2. Routine Inspections and Maintenance:

   • Conduct routine inspections of boiler equipment and systems to identify potential issues and ensure proper functioning.

   • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs, to maintain equipment reliability.

   • Report any equipment malfunctions or abnormalities to the maintenance team for timely resolution.

3. Safety and Compliance:

   • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards in all boiler operations.

   • Conduct safety inspections and audits, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks.

   • Stay updated with industry regulations, codes, and standards applicable to boiler operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legal requirements.

4. Data Logging and Reporting:

   • Maintain accurate records of boiler operations, including operating parameters, maintenance activities, and any incidents or issues.

   • Prepare detailed reports on boiler performance, operational issues, and maintenance activities for management.

   • Utilize data logging tools and software to record and analyze boiler performance data.

5. Emergency Response:

   • Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as equipment malfunctions or safety incidents, by following established emergency procedures.

   • Coordinate with maintenance and safety teams to address and resolve emergency situations effectively.

   • Participate in emergency drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness for potential incidents.

6. Collaboration and Communication:

   • Work closely with immediate supervisor and other boiler operators, maintenance personnel, and engineers to ensure seamless operation of boiler systems.

   • Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams, management, and external stakeholders to address operational issues and support project initiatives.

   • Guide production operators and tenders on boiler operation procedures and best practices to maintain system performance.

What are the Qualifications?

1. Education and Experience:

   • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field.

   • Proven experience as a boiler operator or panel operator within industrial or manufacturing environments, preferably in the food or beverage industry.

2. Technical Proficiency:

   • Comprehensive understanding of boiler systems, including design, operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.

   • Proficiency in using control panels and monitoring systems to operate and adjust boiler parameters.

3. Regulatory Compliance:

   • Thorough knowledge of boiler regulations, codes, and standards, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and legal requirements.

   • Experience in facilitating inspections, audits, and regulatory certifications for boiler systems.

4. Problem‑Solving Abilities:

   • Advanced problem‑solving skills to diagnose boiler issues and implement effective solutions.

   • Proficiency in root cause analysis and predictive maintenance techniques to address boiler challenges and improve system performance.

5. Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
