Job summary

The Orders of St John Care Trust in Burnham, near Slough, is seeking an experienced chef to design menus, cook with fresh seasonal produce and lead a small kitchen team within our care home. You will oversee all catering operations, ensuring highest standards of nutrition, hygiene and safety, with occasional links to day centres and community activities.

The role offers 39 hours per week, with weekend work and a supportive, not-for-profit environment that rewards dedication with competitive pay

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen serving large numbers.
• Knowledge of menu planning for specialist diets.
• Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership (or equivalent) preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all kitchen and catering operations, ensuring high standards of nutrition, hygiene and safety.
• Lead and motivate a small kitchen team with effective supervision.
• Cater for residents in care homes and occasional events at day centres and community activities.
