Job summary

Penbrothers is seeking a Senior Accountant (AU) to support an Australian accounting and taxation firm. You will prepare tax returns, financial statements and BAS for individuals, partnerships, companies, trusts and SMSFs, leveraging Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role requires 3–5 years in Australian accounting, IFRS knowledge, and strong communication with Directors and Managers. Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM AEST with a remote setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA certification is preferred or in progress.
• 3–5 years of experience in Australian accounting and taxation.
• Experience with IFRS and AU taxation.
• Experience in taxation preparation and procedural matters.
• Proficiency with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks; strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tax returns, financial statements, and BAS for clients.
• Enter data for financial reports across entities (independents, partnerships, companies, trusts, SMSFs).
• Assist with client communication and review processes with Managers.
• Liaise with Managers to provide status updates and resolve client issues.
• Maintain professional standards and up-to-date with legislation and ATO interpretations.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as required by Manager.
