Job summary

Peoplegig is seeking a motivated accounting professional to manage Xero files for Australian clients, prepare monthly and quarterly management reports, and support payroll and tax compliance. You will engage directly with clients from day one, driving value beyond standard bookkeeping in a dynamic, people-first environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 18 months of Australian bookkeeping experience, an accounting degree, and familiarity with key financial statements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Day to day management of client Xero files and providing value beyond traditional bookkeeping
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly management reporting using up-to-date tools
• Involvement with tax compliance support including instalments and BAS
• Payroll processing on weekly/fortnightly/monthly cycles and related filings
• Direct client contact and advisory on various financial topics

Responsibilities:

• Day to day management of client Xero files (we don't like the word bookkeeping, because it grossly undersells the value we bring to our clients)
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly management reporting, using the latest and coolest tools
• Getting involved with our tax compliance team - preparation of instalment and business activity statements
• All things payroll from weekly, fortnightly, monthly processing to filing instalment activity statements with the ATO and payroll tax returns with the OSR
• Direct client contact on a daily basis. We don't stick our accountants in the corner, ever! Be able to engage and advise clients on a number of topics

What you'll need to succeed

• Minimum of 18 months experience in bookkeeping for an Australian business (this can be for another accounting firm or in an inhouse finance capacity)
• An accounting degree (if you are part way through and still studying, well consider your application as well)
• The ability to identify and have a basic understanding of key financial documents (Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet)
• Basic knowledge of Australian accounting terminology
• Experience with cloud accounting software

What will make you stand out (nice to have, but not necessary)

• Experience with Xero
• Understanding of and experience with the cloud accounting & add-on world (Dext, HubDoc, Spotlight Reporting, EmploymentHero, Fathom etc)
