Job summary

SGV & Co., a member firm of EY, is seeking a seasoned audit professional to join our Assurance Services team in Manila. You will help clients comply with reporting requirements and lead complex audit engagements with a focus on accuracy and integrity.

The ideal candidate has a CPA license, at least 6 years external audit experience, and at least 4 years in a leadership role supervising associates. You’ll coach junior staff and help build a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
• CPA license required.
• Minimum 6 years external audit experience.
• At least 4 years in a leadership role supervising associates.
• Strong knowledge of accounting & auditing standards (PFRS, PAS, Taxation).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in PFRS and related financial reporting matters (SEC, BIR, BSP, IC regulations).
• Lead audit engagements and supervise teams handling complex procedures.
• Identify risk areas within client businesses and define audit approaches.
• Arrange discussions with clients and provide authoritative advice throughout engagements.
• Proactively build client relationships and handle issues with flexibility and resourcefulness.
• Provide leadership, judgment, and direction to the audit team.
• Coach junior staff and support their development.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and in related financial reporting matter as well as expertise in relevant SEC, BIR, BSP and IC regulations.
• Exhibit a thorough knowledge of current audit techniques and apply them in carrying out complex audit procedures while leading teams or parts of teams on engagements.
• Identify area of risk within client’s businesses and define the appropriate audit approach.
• Arrange discussions with clients and provide authoritative advice and professionalism throughout client engagements.
• Proactively build relationship with client personnel, demonstrate flexibility and resourcefulness in handling client’s problems.
• Provide the necessary leadership, judgement, and administrative direction to his/her audit team.
• Create a positive learning culture and coach and counsel junior team members and support them in their personal and professional development.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Accountancy
• A license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• A minimum of 6 years' work experience in external audit
• At least 4 years' experience in a leadership role which entails supervising associates and senior associates within the engagement team
• Strong knowledge of accounting & auditing standards i.e. PFRS, PAS, and Taxation
