Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in biomedical engineering or hospital functions.
  • Active PRC licence required.
  • Certifications in Biomedical Engineering or Clinical Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for biomedical engineering services to support safe, reliable care.
  • Lead compliance, safety programmes, and asset optimisation.
  • Maintain an equipment and facilities database for tracking and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure personnel training on safe operation and basic maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Review capital equipment requests and support procurement evaluations.
  • Support project planning for construction, commissioning, and inspections.
  • Oversee maintenance programs to meet uptime targets and regulatory standards.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and budget planning for the department.

This opportunity is based in the Philippines. The role offers the chance to lead biomedical engineering strategy and operations within a respected healthcare institution committed to delivering safe, reliable, and world-class patient care.

Position Overview

Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for biomedical engineering services, ensuring medical equipment and facilities support the delivery of high-quality healthcare.
Act as the key adviser to executive leadership on biomedical engineering matters while driving compliance, safety, asset optimisation, and continuous departmental improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a systematic approach for maintaining and managing healthcare equipment and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Establish quality assurance and safety programmes to identify, document, and resolve equipment and facility hazards.
  • Maintain an accurate database of all healthcare equipment and facilities for effective control, tracking, and asset management.
  • Ensure medical personnel are trained in the safe use, proper operation, and basic maintenance of medical equipment and support systems.
  • Review, evaluate, and prioritise strategic capital requests for biomedical engineering equipment.
  • Provide biomedical engineering resources to support medical equipment planning for construction projects, conduct pre-purchase evaluations, vendor research, and cost-of-ownership assessments, approve acceptance testing and inspections of new equipment, and participate in hazard recall programmes and device-related incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with equipment uptime targets by monitoring preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission medical equipment standards and other regulatory requirements through engineering oversight.
  • Develop programmes that support the continuous growth of the biomedical engineering group and enhance organisational effectiveness.
  • Develop, review, and approve departmental policies and procedures.
  • Plan, review, and approve the departmental budget.
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Biomedical, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Master's degree or units in Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in biomedical engineering or related hospital functions.
  • Active PRC licence required.
  • Certifications in Biomedical Engineering or Clinical Engineering preferred.
Technical / Functional Expertise
  • Strong business acumen with advanced data analysis skills.
  • Computer literate and up to date with the latest biomedical engineering trends applicable to tertiary hospital institutions.
  • Proven ability to establish quality assurance and safety programmes.
  • Experience managing equipment databases for asset control, tracking, and management.
  • Expertise in reviewing, evaluating, and overseeing capital equipment requests.
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance programmes and equipment uptime management.
  • Familiarity with medical equipment planning, procurement evaluation, vendor assessment, acceptance testing, inspections, and lifecycle cost analysis.
  • Understanding of Joint Commission medical equipment standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
