About the role
The Area Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the proper working condition of the company's delivery vehicles and fleet within the assigned area. The position supports distribution operations by conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and emergency mechanical assistance to minimize vehicle downtime and ensure timely deliveries.
Key responsibilities
Conduct regular inspection and preventive maintenance of company delivery trucks, vans, Fork and other fleet vehicles.
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving engines, brakes, suspension, steering, transmission, cooling systems, and other vehicle components.
Perform routine checks before and after vehicle deployment.
Respond to vehicle breakdowns and provide roadside or on-site mechanical assistance when needed.
Monitor the maintenance schedule of all assigned fleet vehicles.
Coordinate with drivers regarding vehicle defects, unusual sounds, performance issues, and other concerns.
Recommend necessary repairs, replacement of parts, or major maintenance work.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, repairs, maintenance, and parts replaced.
Monitor the condition and proper use of vehicle tools and spare parts.
Coordinate with accredited repair shops, suppliers, and service centers for repairs that cannot be performed in-house.
About you
High School graduate; Automotive/Mechanical vocational course is an advantage.
At least 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in distribution, logistics, trucking, delivery, or fleet operations.
Knowledgeable in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of delivery vehicles.
Experience handling multiple fleet vehicles is an advantage.
Willing to travel and provide support to different branches or delivery areas.
Valid driver's license is an advantage.
Can work independently and respond to urgent vehicle concerns.
Physically fit and willing to perform hands-on mechanical work.
Responsible, reliable, and safety-conscious.
