YOUR ROLE
The API Technical Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership and oversight for the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of APIs and integration services delivered by an Agile API Squad. The role ensures solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture standards, API governance principles, security requirements, and engineering best practices.
Working closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, API Designers, Architects, Developers, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams, the Technical Lead drives technical decision-making, solution quality, delivery predictability, and continuous improvement across the squad.
Technical Leadership & Solution Design
- Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical architectures.
- Define solution components, integration patterns, and API service interactions.
- Ensure designs align with enterprise architecture, security, performance, and operational standards.
- Review and approve technical designs, API specifications, and implementation approaches.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for the squad.
API Development Oversight
- Lead API development activities across the squad.
- Provide technical guidance to developers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Ensure adherence to API design standards and coding best practices.
- Drive implementation consistency across multiple APIs and services.
- Review complex technical solutions and support resolution of development challenges.
- Promote reuse of existing APIs, frameworks, and accelerators.
Architecture & Integration Governance
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Solution Architects to align squad deliverables with target-state architecture.
- Ensure compliance with API lifecycle governance and architecture standards.
- Evaluate technology options, integration approaches, and platform capabilities.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design authority forums, and governance checkpoints.
- Support API catalog, versioning, and lifecycle management practices.
Agile Delivery Support
- Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and technical story decomposition.
- Ensure technical readiness of backlog items before sprint execution.
- Work closely with the Scrum Master to manage technical risks, dependencies, and impediments.
- Assist the Product Owner in evaluating technical feasibility and delivery impacts.
- Drive delivery predictability through proactive planning and technical oversight.
Quality Engineering & Security
- Establish engineering standards and quality controls within the squad.
- Conduct code reviews and technical design reviews.
- Ensure compliance with non-functional requirements, including:

- Support vulnerability remediation and technical debt management.
DevOps & Release Management

- Drive observability, monitoring, logging, and operational support requirements.
- Participate in production issue resolution and root cause analysis when required.
Team Development & Mentoring
- Mentor developers and engineers within the squad.
- Promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
- Support capability development, technical coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to reusable patterns, accelerators, templates, and best practices.
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture within Agile teams.

YOUR PROFILE
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
- 8+ years of software engineering and integration experience.
- 3+ years in a Technical Lead or Solution Lead role.
- Experience delivering APIs, microservices, and enterprise integrations.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Experience leading distributed and cross-functional technology teams.
