Job summary

MSCI’s Asia Pacific Private Markets Research & Development team supports the Real Estate product line across the region, with members based in multiple APAC markets. This role, based in Shanghai, ensures service continuity across time zones while strengthening data coverage for China, Japan and Korea through local relationships and language capability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in real estate, finance, economics or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret incomplete or non-standardized datasets.
• Prior experience in real estate research/investment analysis is advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Mandarin/Japanese/Korean language skills desirable.
• Comfort using AI-assisted tools to boost productivity while ensuring human review when needed.
• Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple client deadlines, proactive and relationship-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Support preparation for client meetings and strategic engagements across the Real Estate product line, including bespoke analysis and materials development.
• Respond to ad hoc client requests requiring interpretation of incomplete datasets, escalating complex judgments appropriately.
• Assist senior specialists by handling research and analytical work to free up capacity for product innovation and client relationships.
• Provide dedicated Asia Pacific coverage during travel or leave, ensuring continuity of service within regional hours.
• Support data acquisition activities and contribute language capability across China, Japan and Korea to strengthen engagement and data coverage.
• Use AI-assisted tools to draft documents, format data, summarize and code tasks while ensuring accuracy of client-facing outputs.
• Contribute to the thought leadership programme with quarterly reporting and ad hoc analyses for MSCI.com
