Job summary

Octal Philippines, Inc. is seeking a System Engineer (AIX) in Quezon City to administer and optimize IBM DB2 on Unix/Linux environments.

You will plan, deploy, upgrade, migrate, and troubleshoot DB2 systems, and work with development teams to align design and performance goals. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and at least 3 years' experience managing DB2 on IBM AIX/Unix platforms, with strong backup, recovery, and tuning skills, plus solid communication and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years administering IBM DB2 on Unix/Linux.
• Proficient in IBM AIX, Unix and Power environments.
• Fluent in DB2 and SQL.
• Experience in backup/recovery and performance tuning.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deploy, upgrade, migrate, and troubleshoot DB2 system
• Ensure proper configuration and tuning of database system
• Ensure backup and disaster recovery processes for database system
• Perform restores as needed
