Job summary

Vertical Institute, Singapore's AI and technology training provider, is seeking an onsite Software Engineer to join a lean, high-output engineering team. You will build and maintain core learning platform systems, integrate with LMS/CRM/payments, and drive automation across operations.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions, contribute to system design, and deliver with ownership in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade web applications.
• Backend or full-stack development experience with APIs and databases.
• Strong understanding of performance, reliability, and scalable systems.
• Experience debugging live systems and delivering reliable software.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and maintain core learning platform and web apps.
• Translate requirements into well-designed, scalable software.
• Write clean, well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance.
• Develop and maintain APIs, databases, and backend services.
• Integrate LMS, CRM, payment systems, and analytics tools.
• Build internal tools and automations to streamline workflows.
• Contribute to security, reliability, monitoring, and deployment.
• Explore AI capabilities and integrate AI APIs and automation.
• Write automated tests and participate in code reviews.
• Document tech solutions and APIs; communicate trade-offs clearly.
