Job summary

Southern Arms Corporation is seeking an Agriculturist to join our horticultural team at our facility in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. This full-time role focuses on crop production planning, soil management, pest control, irrigation, and staff training to ensure high-quality yields.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/Agronomy and 2–3 years of hands-on farm experience. You will work with modern farming tech, maintain records, and help drive sustainable practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or Agronomy.
• 2–3 years of practical experience in horticultural crop production and farm management.
• Strong knowledge of crop production cycles, soil science, plant pathology, and pest management.
• Experience with data collection, record-keeping, and agricultural management software.
• Ability to train and supervise farm workers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement crop production plans tailored to local soil conditions, climate, and market demand.
• Monitor and assess soil health, conducting regular testing and recommending soil amendments and fertilisation programmes.
• Oversee pest and disease management strategies, including identification, prevention, and treatment of crop diseases.
• Manage irrigation systems and water conservation practices to optimise crop growth whilst reducing environmental impact.
• Conduct field inspections and maintain detailed records of crop performance, yields, and production metrics.
• Provide technical guidance and training to farm workers on proper cultivation, harvesting, and post-harvest handling techniques.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of quality seeds, fertilisers, and agricultural inputs.
• Analyse crop data and recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce production costs.
• Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations, food safety standards, and environmental sustainability requirements.
• Identify and implement innovative horticultural techniques and technologies to enhance farm efficiency.

As an Agriculturist, you will be responsible for implementing best practices in crop production, soil management, and sustainable farming techniques to ensure optimal yields and product quality. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success of our horticultural endeavours and the overall growth of the organisation.

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related discipline
• Minimum 2-3 years of practical experience in horticultural crop production and farm management
• Strong knowledge of crop production cycles, soil science, plant pathology, and pest management
• Proficiency in using agricultural tools, equipment, and modern farming technologies
• Experience with data collection, record-keeping, and agricultural management software
• Sound understanding of sustainable farming practices and environmental conservation principles
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on field observations and data analysis
• Strong communication and leadership abilities with experience training and supervising farm workers
• Physical capability to work in outdoor environments and perform fieldwork regularly
• Knowledge of local agricultural practices and climate conditions in Mindanao is advantageous
• Relevant certifications in agriculture or crop production would be beneficial
