About the role

Southern Arms Corporation is seeking an experienced Livestock Specialist to join our farming operations in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in livestock management and husbandry. As a Livestock Specialist, you will play a crucial role in optimising our animal production systems, ensuring the health and productivity of our livestock, and contributing directly to the success of our farming enterprise. This position is integral to maintaining our operational standards and supporting our commitment to sustainable and ethical farming practices.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and assess the health, nutrition, and general welfare of livestock to ensure optimal productivity and compliance with animal welfare standards
• Develop and implement feeding programmes tailored to different livestock categories and production stages
• Conduct regular health checks and coordinate with veterinary professionals for preventative care and disease management
• Maintain detailed records of livestock performance, breeding cycles, medical treatments, and feed consumption
• Perform day-to-day care duties including cleaning facilities, managing pasture rotation, and ensuring safe living conditions for all animals
• Identify and troubleshoot livestock health issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary
• Train and supervise farm workers on proper livestock handling and care procedures
• Assist in implementing breeding programmes to improve herd genetics and productivity
• Maintain equipment and facilities used in livestock operations to ensure safety and efficiency
• Support inventory management of feed, medicines, and other livestock-related supplies

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working in livestock farming or animal husbandry operations, ideally within a commercial farming environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of livestock breeds, nutrition, health, and reproduction practices relevant to the Philippines region
• Hands-on experience in animal handling, health monitoring, and basic veterinary care procedures
• Strong understanding of biosecurity protocols and disease prevention strategies
• Ability to maintain accurate records and demonstrate attention to detail in documentation
• Physical fitness and willingness to perform physically demanding work in outdoor conditions
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with farm teams and management
• Problem-solving abilities and practical approach to addressing livestock management challenges
• Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and animal welfare standards is highly advantageous
• A valid driver's licence would be beneficial for transporting livestock and farm supplies
