Job summary

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited is seeking an Advisor - Payroll Enablement to support payroll enablement activities, monitor India pay-impacting changes, and deliver payroll fixes and system enhancements. You will collaborate with Technology, Finance, and HR teams to drive payroll initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires 6–8 years in payroll operations or transformation, with a strong understanding of payroll systems and India regulations.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of experience in payroll operations, systems or transformation.
• Strong technical understanding of payroll delivery and India payroll regulations.
• Broad domain understanding of payroll in financial services and risk/change management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor India pay-impact changes to ensure tax and policy compliance.
• Coordinate payroll incidents with Technology and Payroll teams for timely resolution.
• Lead payroll changes, fixes and system enhancements with minimal disruption.
• Define and implement payroll change requirements per business and regulatory needs.
• Perform release testing for payroll system updates to ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Tax, Benefits, and external payroll vendors.
• Support payroll operations with issue investigation and reconciliation.

About the Role

As an Advisor - Payroll Enablement you will be a key member of the Core Payroll team, supporting the execution of payroll enablement activities. This includes monitoring India pay-impacting changes (from both external and internal sources), providing payroll system advisory, delivering payroll fixes and enhancements, and managing associated change activities. The role also involves strong collaboration with Technology, Finance, and Initiative Delivery teams.

What will your day look like?

As an Advisor - Payroll Enablement your responsibilities will include :

• Monitor external and internal changes impacting payroll (especially India regulations) to ensure ongoing compliance with tax, labor, and company policies.
• Manage payroll incidents by coordinating with Technology, Payroll, and other relevant teams for timely resolution.
• Lead the delivery of payroll changes, fixes, and system enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Identify, define, and implement payroll change requirements in line with business and regulatory needs.
• Perform release testing (UAT) for payroll system updates (e.g., SuccessFactors Employee Central / ECP) to ensure accuracy and system readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including HR, Finance, Tax, Benefits, and external payroll vendors to drive payroll initiatives.
• Support payroll operations through issue investigation, reconciliation activities, and maintaining process documentation and controls.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience in payroll operations, payroll systems, or payroll transformation.
• A strong technical understanding across payroll delivery, payroll systems and India payroll regulatory environment, through previous payroll related experience
• Broad domain understanding of the payroll business environment in financial services, including risk, change management, technology, data management and vendor management.
• Ability to work across collaborative teams, utilising best practices to gather requirements in order to document, translate and verify solutions in the most efficient ways to meet payroll needs
• Experience with test management, this includes understanding and working through business requirements to determine the type and level of testing required in the payroll system.
