Job summary

SNEHA in Navi Mumbai invites applications for a Program Officer - Counselling to screen adolescents and plan targeted support across schools and health posts.

You will train teachers, parents, and frontline workers, and help integrate mental health services into existing youth programs under team supervision.

Fresh graduates with a postgraduate degree in Counselling or Clinical Psychology and 1–2 years of school-counselling experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in Counselling or Clinical Psychology.
• 1–2 years of experience in school counselling; freshers may apply.
• Willingness to travel within Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
• Fluency in English, Hindi, and Marathi.
• Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with self-monitoring and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Screen adolescents in EHSAS schools and communities for mental health concerns and plan interventions with the programme team.
• Provide health-based counselling and preliminary assessments for adolescents referred through Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics.
• Demonstrate effective engagement with adolescents with mental health concerns.
• Conduct parenting modules and psychoeducation sessions for parents.
• Build the capacity of teachers, health-post staff and ICDS staff to identify adolescents needing support.
• Supervise counselling sessions run by Non-Specialist Mental Health Workers and provide feedback.
