Job summary

Suncoast Brands International Corporation is seeking a capable accounting professional to lead financial reporting, general ledger management, budgeting, and controls. You will supervise and develop the accounting team while ensuring timely, accurate reporting and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

The role emphasizes process improvements, system enhancements, and collaboration with other units and external auditors to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, review, and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial data and reporting.
  • Perform variance analyses to identify trends, discrepancies, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure compliance with established timelines.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
  • Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, classified, and supported by documentation.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and adjusting entries for accuracy.
  • Monitor and resolve discrepancies in account balances and financial records.
  • Lead the development, preparation, and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Coordinate with department heads to gather financial information for planning purposes.
  • Monitor financial performance against approved budgets and forecasts.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by coordinating schedules and documentation.
  • Identify control gaps, risks, and process improvement opportunities and escalate issues.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance accounting operations.
  • Assist in documenting accounting policies, procedures, and workflow processes.
  • Support accounting system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and transformations.
  • Participate in projects related to process optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor accounting staff to ensure high-quality performance.
  • Provide technical guidance on accounting matters and policies.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new team members.
  • Monitor workload distribution and ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Assign, coordinate, monitor, and review work performed by accounting personnel.
  • Serve as the secondary point of contact for day-to-day accounting concerns.
  • Escalate significant issues and collaborate with the Accounting Manager to resolve challenges.
  • Act as a liaison between the Accounting Department and other units, external auditors, and regulators.
  • Foster effective communication across teams to streamline processes and resolve issues promptly.
  • Contribute to strategic planning with financial insights and recommendations.
  • Support the Accounting Manager in identifying opportunities to improve practices and controls.
  • Assist in evaluating employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Coordinate departmental meetings, agendas, minutes, and action items.
  • Assist in preparation, consolidation, and submission of reports and presentations.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and documentation according to retention policies.
  • Monitor calendars, deadlines, and compliance schedules for timely deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication among team members and departments to support efficiency.
  • Support onboarding, training coordination, and knowledge sharing within the department.
  • Participate in developing and implementing departmental policies and best practices.

Job description

Major/ Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Lead the preparation, review, and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

  • Monitor financial performance against approved budgets and forecasts.
Financial Controls and Compliance
  • Implement and monitor compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements established by the Accounting Manager.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by coordinating schedules, preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations.
  • Identify control gaps, operational risks, and process improvement opportunities, and escalate significant issues to the Accounting Manager.
Process Improvement and Systems Enhancement
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting operations.
  • Assist in documenting and updating accounting policies, procedures, and workflow processes.
  • Support accounting system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and other digital transformation initiatives.
  • Participate in projects related to process optimization and continuous improvement.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor accounting staff to ensure high-quality performance and professional growth.
  • Provide technical guidance on accounting matters, policies, and best practices.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new team members.
  • Monitor workload distribution and ensure tasks are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
Operational Oversight
  • Assign, coordinate, monitor, and review work performed by accounting personnel.
  • Serve as the secondary point of contact for day-to-day accounting concerns, with Accounting Supervisors and Senior Accounting Specialists serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Escalate significant issues and collaborate with the Accounting Manager to resolve operational challenges.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Act as a liaison between the Accounting Department and other business units, external auditors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across teams to streamline accounting processes and resolve issues promptly.
Strategic Support
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives by providing financial insights, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Support the Accounting Manager in identifying opportunities to improve accounting practices, systems, controls, and overall departmental performance.
Performance Management
  • Assist in evaluating employee performance, setting goals, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Minor Responsibilities:
Administrative & Team Support
  • Coordinate departmental meetings, prepare agendas, document meeting minutes, and monitor action items.
  • Assist in the preparation, consolidation, and submission of reports, presentations, and other management requirements.
  • Maintain organized and secure accounting records, files, and documentation in accordance with company retention policies.
  • Monitor departmental calendars, deadlines, and compliance schedules to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among team members and other departments to support operational efficiency.
  • Assist in resource planning, workload allocation, and scheduling to ensure adequate departmental coverage.
  • Support employee onboarding, training coordination, and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the department.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
