Major/ Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Lead the preparation, review, and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial data and reporting.
- Perform variance analyses to identify trends, discrepancies, risks, and areas for improvement.
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure compliance with established timelines.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
General Ledger Management
- Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, classified, and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjusting entries for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor and resolve discrepancies in account balances and financial records.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Lead the development, preparation, and monitoring of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions and cost optimization initiatives.
- Coordinate with department heads to gather relevant financial information and assumptions for planning purposes.
- Monitor financial performance against approved budgets and forecasts.
Financial Controls and Compliance
- Implement and monitor compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements established by the Accounting Manager.
- Support internal and external audit activities by coordinating schedules, preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations.
- Identify control gaps, operational risks, and process improvement opportunities, and escalate significant issues to the Accounting Manager.
Process Improvement and Systems Enhancement
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting operations.
- Assist in documenting and updating accounting policies, procedures, and workflow processes.
- Support accounting system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and other digital transformation initiatives.
- Participate in projects related to process optimization and continuous improvement.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise, coach, and mentor accounting staff to ensure high-quality performance and professional growth.
- Provide technical guidance on accounting matters, policies, and best practices.
- Assist in onboarding and training new team members.
- Monitor workload distribution and ensure tasks are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
Operational Oversight
- Assign, coordinate, monitor, and review work performed by accounting personnel.
- Serve as the secondary point of contact for day-to-day accounting concerns, with Accounting Supervisors and Senior Accounting Specialists serving as the primary point of contact.
- Escalate significant issues and collaborate with the Accounting Manager to resolve operational challenges.
Communication and Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between the Accounting Department and other business units, external auditors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration across teams to streamline accounting processes and resolve issues promptly.
Strategic Support
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives by providing financial insights, analyses, and recommendations.
- Support the Accounting Manager in identifying opportunities to improve accounting practices, systems, controls, and overall departmental performance.
Performance Management
- Assist in evaluating employee performance, setting goals, and providing constructive feedback.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Minor Responsibilities:
Administrative & Team Support
- Coordinate departmental meetings, prepare agendas, document meeting minutes, and monitor action items.
- Assist in the preparation, consolidation, and submission of reports, presentations, and other management requirements.
- Maintain organized and secure accounting records, files, and documentation in accordance with company retention policies.
- Monitor departmental calendars, deadlines, and compliance schedules to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Facilitate communication and coordination among team members and other departments to support operational efficiency.
- Assist in resource planning, workload allocation, and scheduling to ensure adequate departmental coverage.
- Support employee onboarding, training coordination, and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the department.
- Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
