Manila Bankers Life Insurance Corporation in the Philippines is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to maintain accounting records, assist in monthly financial statements, and ensure timely filing of all tax returns while supporting the Accounting Manager and Comptroller to keep the department efficient.
The role includes supervising Accounting Assistants, reviewing ledgers, preparing month-end reports, bank reconciliations, and assisting with audits to uphold internal controls and accuracy.
About the role
Responsible for keeping and maintaining the Accounting Records of the Company, assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial statements and other required management reports, timely filing of all tax returns and for assisting the Accounting Manager and the Comptroller in ensuring that the Accounting Department operates smoothly and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
Reviews accounting and financial data/reports of the Accounting Assistants to ensure proper reporting of financial information in accordance to general accepted accounting standards
Monitors, analyzes, and adjusts all General Ledger accounts with abnormal balances
Checks, verifies, and encodes all adjustment entries before month end closing
Prepares various schedules to support income statement and balance sheet accounts
Assists in the preparation of month end reports and other required management reports
Supervises Accounting Assistants to see to it that accounting procedures and systems are consistently implemented
Prepare entries in the check vouchers, monthly closing entries, reconciling items and other relevant accounting documents
Assist in reviewing tax returns and reports prepared by the Accounting Assistant to ensure that all information is complete and correct
Ensured the timely processing and filing of mandated government taxes, dues, and returns to eliminate the risk of paying penalties and surcharge
Prepares monthly Bank Reconciliation reports which should be completed before closing the books
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or BSc/BA in Accounting or Finance; master's degree and professional certification
Certified Public Accountant (Preferred); CMA or CIA are pluses
At least 3 years of experience in a Supervisory Level gained from the Insurance or services Industry
Must possess a thorough knowledge of accounting and auditing procedures and a sound judgement
High leadership skills, sound working relationship with peers, superiors, and internal and external auditors
