SOUTHERN ARMS CORPORATION is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our finance team in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. This full-time role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

You will provide reliable financial information to stakeholders at all levels. You’ll collaborate with departments, manage journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and assist with audits, while upholding confidentiality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA, CPA or similar).
• 2–4 years in financial accounting or reporting.
• Strong Excel and general ledger software proficiency.
• Thorough understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.

Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile financial transactions per GAAP and company policies.
• Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger accounts, and trial balances.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Conduct account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately.
• Support audit by organizing documentation and schedules.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
• Maintain detailed financial records and filing systems.
• Liaise with internal departments to resolve accounting queries.
• Monitor fixed asset transactions and depreciation.

About the role

Southern Arms Corporation is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our finance team on a full-time basis in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. This is a pivotal position within our Financial Accounting and Reporting function, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will play a key role in supporting the organisation's financial health and providing reliable financial information to stakeholders at all levels.

What you’ll be doing

• Recording and reconciling financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies
• Preparing and reviewing journal entries, general ledger accounts, and trial balances
• Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Performing account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies promptly
• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately
• Supporting the audit process by maintaining organised documentation and providing supporting schedules
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Maintaining detailed financial records and filing systems
• Liaising with internal departments to resolve accounting queries and issues
• Monitoring and recording fixed asset transactions and depreciation

What we’re looking for

• Completed qualification in accounting, finance, or a related discipline (bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or similar)
• Proven experience of 2–4 years in financial accounting, reporting, or a similar accounting role
• Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including experience with general ledger systems
• Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and rectify errors quickly
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the capacity to handle multiple priorities
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly
• Experience with accounts reconciliation and month-end closing processes (preferred)
• Knowledge of tax compliance and payroll accounting (advantageous)
