Job summary

Harbor Star Shipping Services, Inc. in Makati seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day Accounting Department operations, supervise staff, and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Accounting Officer, Accountant, and oversee junior staff.
• Review and approve AP vouchers, fund requests, and petty cash vouchers.
• Review and approve interim financial statements for the parent, subsidiaries and consolidated group.
• Analyze accounts, forecasts, and historical data to support management decisions.
• Provide technical support and maintain continuity when senior staff are unavailable.
• Develop and recommend Accounting Department policies and procedures.
• Prepare and review the annual operating plan and budgets.
• Forecast staffing, materials, and CapEx requirements.
• Monitor performance and provide timely feedback to staff.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and assess results against targets.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the day-to-day work of our Accounting Department. You will guide the accounting team, oversee financial reporting and analysis, support budget planning, and help ensure the department meets its performance and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Accounting Officer and Accountant, and provide functional oversight of the Accounting Assistant and Bookkeepers.

• Review and approve Accounts Payable Vouchers (APVs), Requests for Fund (RFFs), and Petty Cash Vouchers (PCVs), in line with delegated authority.

• Review, recommend, and approve internally prepared interim financial statements for the parent company, subsidiaries, and consolidated group.

• Analyze accounts, forecasts, and historical financial data, and present findings to support management decisions.

• Provide technical support and maintain work continuity when the Accountant or Accounting Officer is unavailable; delegate tasks as needed.

• Develop and recommend Accounting Department policies and procedures.

• Prepare the department’s annual operating plan and budget, and review and approve section plans.

• Forecast short-, medium-, and long-term staffing, materials, and capital expenditure (CapEx) requirements.

• Monitor employee, department, and division performance, and provide timely feedback.

• Conduct annual performance reviews and assess results against agreed targets.

About you

• A Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

• Experience using ERP systems; SAP experience is an advantage.

• Knowledge of SEC regulations, PSE compliance requirements, and external audit processes.

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

• Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
