Job Summary
The Accounting Assistant – Tax & Compliance provides support to the Accounting and Finance Department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, and ensuring timely compliance with tax and government requirements.
The position will assist in the preparation and filing of tax-related documents, coordination with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), LGU, banks, and other government agencies, as well as handling necessary field transactions and document submissions on behalf of the company.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Functions
- Assist in recording and maintaining daily accounting transactions.
- Prepare and organize invoices, receipts, vouchers, purchase orders, and other accounting documents.
- Assist with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions.
- Assist in preparing billing statements and monitoring customer payments.
- Prepare payment vouchers and supporting documents for payment processing.
- Assist in bank and cash reconciliations.
- Encode and maintain accurate accounting records using Excel or accounting software.
- Assist in preparing monthly accounting and financial reports.
- Review accounting documents for completeness, accuracy, and proper approvals.
- Maintain organized and updated accounting files and records.
Tax & BIR Compliance
- Assist in the preparation and processing of BIR tax returns, forms, schedules, and supporting documents.
- Assist in monitoring tax filing and payment deadlines.
- Prepare and organize documents required for BIR transactions and compliance.
- Assist in maintaining and updating BIR-related records and documentation.
- Coordinate with the Accounting Officer, Accountant, or external tax consultant regarding tax compliance matters.
- Assist in processing BIR registrations, updates, certifications, and other requirements.
- Assist during BIR examinations, assessments, or requests for documents, when necessary.
- Ensure that tax-related documents are properly filed and readily available for reference.
Field & Government Transactions
- Process and submit accounting and tax documents to BIR, LGU, banks, SEC, and other government agencies, as required.
- Follow up on applications, registrations, certifications, permits, and other government-related transactions.
- Handle the submission and retrieval of accounting and tax documents.
- Coordinate with government offices and other external parties regarding company accounting requirements.
- Conduct bank-related transactions, including deposits, document submissions, and other authorized transactions.
- Perform other necessary field duties related to Accounting and Finance.
- Maintain proper records and receipts for all field transactions.
Other Responsibilities
- Coordinate with other departments regarding accounting documents, payments, purchases, billing, and other financial matters.
- Maintain confidentiality of company financial and tax information.
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the Accounting Department.
- Assist the Accounting Officer, Accountant, or Accounting Supervisor as needed.
- Perform other accounting, tax compliance, and administrative duties that may be assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Management Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax compliance, or a related position is preferred.
- Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience may also be considered.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Philippine accounting and taxation.
- Familiarity with BIR tax forms, filing procedures, and compliance requirements is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, collections, and bank reconciliation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using accounting software is an advantage.
- Good numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to communicate professionally with BIR, LGU, banks, suppliers, and other external parties.
- Willing to travel and perform field work for accounting, tax, banking, and government transactions.
- Willing to work on-site and handle time-sensitive government and accounting requirements.
