Job summary

Emapta is seeking an Accountant to manage multi-entity accounting, treasury, and reporting for Australian renewable projects from Makati. You will handle A/R, A/P, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany reconciliations, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and cross-entity controls.

The Qualifications We Seek

Professional Background

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
• 3 to 5 years of post-qualification accounting experience (PQE) within a multi-entity corporate environment

System & Software Proficiency

• Advanced proficiency in Xero, with hands-on experience managing multi-organization setups, bank rules, fixed assets, and tracking categories
• Experience with Airwallex or a similar spend management platform, including reconciliation of corporate multi-currency cards and expense reimbursements
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, complex formulas such as XLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH, and financial model navigation

Core Technical Competencies

• Solid understanding of Australian accounting fundamentals, GST/BAS mechanisms, and multi-entity intercompany loan mechanics
• Strong working knowledge of AASB 16 (Leases) journal mechanics and project WIP and cost reclassifications

Communication & Work Ethic

• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with confidence collaborating directly with senior finance stakeholders in Sydney
• Strong attention to detail, sense of ownership, and proactive communication skills

Your Daily Tasks

Transactional Processing & Treasury Operations - 40%

Accounts Payable & Approvals

• Process vendor bills in Xero, match purchase orders, and manage approval workflows
• Review aged payables and prepare payment batches and ABA files for Financial Controller sign-off

Credit Card & Expense Management

• Administer corporate card expense reports and employee reimbursements in Airwallex
• Reconcile Airwallex feeds and clearing accounts against Xero

Accounts Receivable & Billing

• Generate and issue monthly Development Services fee invoices for project joint ventures
• Issue monthly project expense reimbursement invoices to SPVs and joint ventures
• Monitor debtor aging, send reminder notices, and follow up on outstanding accounts

Bank & Cash Reconciliation

• Perform daily bank reconciliations across all operational, trust, and project bank accounts in Xero

Payroll Execution

• Send payroll submission reminders and process fortnightly and monthly payroll runs in Xero Payroll
• Generate ABA upload files and prepare superannuation clearing account reconciliations

Fixed Assets

• Maintain the fixed asset register and record asset additions and disposals
• Execute monthly depreciation runs in Xero

General Ledger Integrity & Month-End Close - 40%

Balance Sheet Substantiation

• Prepare month-end workpapers and reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including prepayments, accruals, security deposits, novated leases, clearing items, and suspense accounts

Lease Accounting - AASB 16 / ROUA

• Maintain Right-of-Use Asset (ROUA) schedules
• Post monthly lease depreciation and interest expense journals
• Reconcile lease liability ledgers

Project Cost Reclassifications & Accruals

• Execute monthly project expense reclassification journals across operating expenses, contra-expenses, and COGS/development WIP for SPVs and joint ventures
• Calculate and post monthly reimbursement revenue accruals

Intercompany & Trust Account Reconciliations

• Maintain and reconcile multi-tier intercompany loan balances and trust distribution ledgers each month
• Ensure zero-variance elimination across all entities

Provisions

• Calculate and update employee entitlement provisions, including annual leave and long service leave

Management Reporting & Compliance Support - 20%

Month-End Reporting

• Perform monthly trial balance sanity checks and identify and resolve posting anomalies
• Prepare draft monthly financial packs, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows, with budget-versus-actual variance analysis
• Execute period-lock protocols across all Xero ledgers after month-end close

Statutory Compliance & Audit Support

• Reconcile GST general ledger accounts against Xero Activity Statements
• Prepare quarterly BAS working papers for external tax adviser review and lodgement
• Prepare PBC audit workpapers, lead schedules, and transactional sample documentation for year-end audit and GPFS preparation
• Provide underlying ledger support for PAYG, FBT, and ASIC annual reporting
