Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification
- At least 12 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, with substantial hands‑on exposure supporting Australian businesses or SME clients
- Strong hands‑on NetSuite experience, including finance and accounting workflows, reporting, and process optimization
- Proven experience leading a NetSuite implementation, system enhancement, or ERP migration and improving finance processes
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and compliance requirements, including ATO compliance, GST, IAS/BAS, PAYG, superannuation, payroll, and STP
- Extensive experience in multi‑entity accounting, intercompany transactions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Strong commercial finance experience, including margin, pricing, cost, and project‑level profitability analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial modelling, forecasting, reporting, and analysis
- Experience with ADP or comparable Australian payroll platforms
- Proven ability to develop scalable finance processes, reporting frameworks, and internal controls
- Strong commercial judgment, analytical thinking, and ability to communicate financial insights clearly to executive and non‑financial stakeholders
- Experience with commercial contract reviews and insurance programs is highly preferred
- Exposure to logistics, transport, recycling, or supply chain environments is an advantage
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, independence, and accountability when managing financial and commercially sensitive information
Responsibilities
Australian Compliance and Agency Liaison
- Own ATO compliance across Group entities, including IAS, GST, PAYG, superannuation, reconciliations, payment arrangements, and statutory lodgments
- Coordinate BAS and year‑end reporting with external accountants while reducing reliance on outsourced accounting services
- Maintain compliance with Australian accounting standards, regulations, company policies, and statutory deadlines, acting as liaison with government agencies, regulators, payroll providers, insurers, and external partners
- Support ISO 14001, AS/NZS 5377, and DCCEEW NTCRS audits through accurate, audit‑ready records and finance initiatives that strengthen environmental, regulatory, and operational compliance
- Maintain the finance compliance calendar covering lodgments, payments, loans, and key deadlines
Cashflow, Banking, and Treasury
- Manage weekly cashflow forecasting, payment planning, banking, reconciliations, payment preparation for CEO approval, and corporate credit cards
- Lead credit control, collections, receivables, liquidity forecasting, lending facilities, and supplier payment relationships
Management Reporting, Commercial Analysis, and Cost Control
- Deliver executive reporting across financial performance, cashflow, liabilities, compliance, KPIs, and business risks
- Develop profitability, costing, WIP, and margin reporting across jobs, customers, invoices, service lines, and fleet operations
- Lead financial, pricing, commercial, and operational analysis, translating findings into actionable executive recommendations
- Develop budgets, rolling forecasts, dashboards, and performance metrics while identifying cost efficiencies across procurement, contracts, insurance, subscriptions, and operating expenses
- Partner with leadership on customer profitability, pricing, revenue growth, and commercial decisions; oversee R&D expenditure records for annual claims
- Guide the Audit & Assurance team in producing consistent financial reporting and analysis
Commercial Contracts and Risk Management
- Manage supplier contracts, registers, pricing reviews, renewals, negotiations, and commercial‑term compliance before executive approval
- Oversee insurance portfolios, renewals, broker relationships, credit ratings, and financial risk identification and mitigation
Systems, Process Improvement, and Payroll
- Lead NetSuite re‑implementation and finance transformation, including billing redesign, workflow optimization, and data governance
- Establish finance policies, approval controls, purchase order processes, workflow standards, system documentation, and the Finance Manual
- Improve system adoption and data quality through team coaching and process governance
- Oversee Australian payroll, STP compliance, reimbursements, leave administration, employment documentation, and personnel records
Leadership and Strategic Projects
- Lead and develop the Company Accountant and Audit & Assurance teams, reinforcing quality, productivity, and accountability
- Oversee invoice validation, billing integrity, CT data management, audit compliance, and financial reporting accuracy
- Assess finance capability, structure, and resourcing and recommend improvements to executive leadership
- Lead financial modelling, funding analysis, and cross‑functional finance planning for warehouse and office relocation
- Manage confidential executive financial matters and advise management on governance, controls, business improvement, and organizational risk
Success Measures
- 90 days: Transition compliance and cashflow ownership, assess finance capability, and establish NetSuite implementation plans
- 6 months: Deliver executive reporting, budgets, and rolling forecasts while materially reducing external accounting costs
- 12 months: Establish comprehensive margin reporting, materially progress or complete NetSuite transformation, improve insurance outcomes, and deliver measurable savings
- Ongoing: Maintain 100% on‑time statutory compliance, zero ATO penalties, and proactive financial risk management
