BPI DIRECT BANKO,INC. A SAVINGS BANK seeks an Account Officer to build and grow a micro and SME loan portfolio under the MAREKO program, perform loan evaluations, provide client service, and assist in branch operations as needed.

You will identify new clients, supervise referrers, and ensure compliance with KYC, audit, and regulatory requirements while maintaining timely collections and accurate recordkeeping across the branch network.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a 4-year degree course, preferably in business-related disciplines (Finance / Management/ Economics, etc.)
  • At least 2 years of experience in the banking industry (Rural Banks, microfinance-focused NGOs as well)
  • Familiarity with the community of the branch (main markets, target segment, local network and connections, etc.)

Job Description

The Account Officer builds and maintains a strong portfolio of micro and small enterprise clients through the MAREKO program and other BanKo acquisition activities. The role ensures accurate loan evaluations, timely follow-up and recovery of past-due accounts, effective client service, and proper recordkeeping. In the absence of the Business Manager, Area Business Manager, or Area Admin Officer, the Account Officer supervises day-to-day branch or kiosk operations, including vault and cash balancing, teller and customer service duties, and approving transactions within authority limits.

  1. Identifies, solicits, and maintains quality loan accounts within the assigned area.
  2. Acquires new customers for deposits and SEME loans through proactive field work.
  3. Identifies, recruits, and supervises MAREKOs (referrers), driving their performance, ensuring loyalty and engagement through regular visits, coaching, and issue resolution.
  4. Manages and grows customer acquisition, deposit generation, float volume, and cross-sell targets.
  5. Implements marketing strategies to achieve loan origination and acquisition goals.
  6. Gathers, verifies, and validates loan documentary requirements and business information, both operational and financial, for credit evaluation and decision-making.
    • Updates Sales Journal or equivalent reports of sales activities.
  7. Manages and recovers past-due loans (1–60 days):
    • Conducts prescribed collection actions (visits, notices, assessments).
    • Achieves and maintains Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and Non-Performing Loan (NPL) targets.
    • Emphasizes on-time payments with clients.
    • Records repayment reports, collection results, and client behavior patterns.
    • Prepares Client Assessment Reports and recommends remedial action for 30–90 days past-due accounts in CBP System.
  8. Provides feedback to improve lending operations policies and guidelines.
  9. Reviews all incoming leads, prospects, and loan applications of the branch, adding comments or recommendations in Unipro discussion threads with Loan Associates, Business Manager, Area Business Manager, and Regional Manager.
  10. Observes the Bank’s account opening and POS guidelines.
  11. Ensures adherence to KYC, audit, legal, and regulatory requirements, including timely submission of compliance matrices (quarterly for high-risk, semi-annual for low-risk accounts).
  12. Completes branch operational tasks such as personnel checklists, attendance reporting, and filing requests for OB/VL/SL in line with Bank policy.
  13. Performs other functions as may be assigned from time to time.
