Qualifications

Job Overview

We are looking for a results-driven and customer-focused Account Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the company’s customer base, managing key accounts, generating new business, and achieving sales and revenue targets within the shipping and logistics industry.

This role will build strong relationships with shippers, freight forwarders, consignees, and other business partners while providing competitive and customized ocean freight and logistics solutions based on their shipping requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive sales and business growth by identifying, developing, and converting new business opportunities within the shipping and logistics market.

  • Develop and manage key customer accounts, building strong and long-term relationships to increase customer retention, shipment volume, and revenue.

  • Prospect and acquire new customers through market research, referrals, networking, customer visits, industry events, and other business development activities.

  • Understand customers’ shipping requirements and provide tailored ocean freight and logistics solutions that address their operational and commercial needs.

  • Prepare and present sales proposals, quotations, rate offers, and service solutions to prospective and existing customers.

  • Negotiate freight rates, commercial terms, service agreements, and contract renewals within approved company guidelines.

  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell the company’s shipping, container, and related logistics services.

  • Monitor customer shipments, booking requirements, vessel schedules, container availability, and other service-related concerns to ensure a positive customer experience.

  • Act as the main point of contact for assigned accounts, promptly addressing inquiries, concerns, and service issues while coordinating with internal teams for resolution.

  • Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Documentation, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless execution of customer requirements.

  • Monitor account performance, sales pipeline, customer activity, shipment volume, revenue, and profitability to identify opportunities for further growth.

  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales, revenue, and volume targets.

  • Prepare regular sales and account performance reports, including sales pipeline, new accounts, customer growth, revenue, and business opportunities, for Management review.

  • Gather customer feedback and market intelligence to identify new business opportunities, service improvement areas, and changing customer requirements.

  • Monitor shipping industry trends, freight market movements, competitor activities, port conditions, and other market developments that may impact customer requirements and business opportunities.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the company’s shipping services, routes, sailing schedules, equipment, pricing, and value propositions to effectively present solutions to customers.

  • Ensure all customer transactions and commercial agreements are properly documented and aligned with company policies and approved terms.

  • Perform other sales and account management duties that may be assigned by Management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, or a related field.

  • At least 2–5 years of experience in Sales, Account Management, Business Development, or Commercial roles, preferably in a shipping line, freight forwarding, NVOCC, logistics, or transportation company.

  • Strong understanding of ocean freight, container shipping, vessel schedules, shipping routes, port operations, and logistics processes is highly preferred.

  • Proven track record in business development, customer acquisition, account growth, and meeting sales targets.

  • Strong sales, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently deal with customers and business partners.

  • Strong commercial and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify customer needs and convert them into business opportunities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, sales opportunities, and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Willing to conduct customer visits, sales calls, and business development activities as required.

  • Knowledge of shipping documentation, international trade, customs procedures, and maritime/logistics regulations is an advantage.

  • With an existing network of shippers, freight forwarders, consignees, or logistics industry contacts is a strong advantage.
