Job summary

Al Ghalbi International - OMAN is seeking a Welding Engineer with 6–8 years of onshore oil and gas exposure to lead welding discipline activities and ensure integrity of facilities under PDO standards.

You will review procedures, qualify welders, and collaborate with corrosion, materials, and fabrication teams to solve welding-related problems while applying ASME/API/ISO codes as required.

Qualifications

• Shall have 6–8 years of relevant experience in onshore oil & gas or petrochemical facilities.
• Expert knowledge in welding of high strength pipeline steels and CRA alloys.
• Sound knowledge of corrosion, fracture, fatigue, creep and embrittlement of welded joints.
• Experience with international codes ANSI/ASME/API/BS EN/MSS/ISO and PDO standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and approve welding procedure specifications and PWBs and PQRs.
• Advise material selection related to welding with corrosion and materials teams.
• Develop welding specifications to ensure integrity of equipment and facilities under PDO.
• Carry out failure analysis and resolve welding-related problems.

Position

Welding Engineer

Experience

- Shall have at least 6 to 8 years relevant experience in the construction of onshore oil amp gas or petrochemical industry facilities pressure vessels tanks mechanical fabrication pipelines piping etc Shall demonstrate sound technical knowledge and extensive experience in welding processes SMAW SAW GTAW GMAW FCAW etc materials welding and fabrication methods in onshore oil and gas industry Expert knowledge in welding of high strength pipeline steels and improved corrosion resistant alloys CRA used in oil and gas industry is a must Shall have sound technical knowledge of corrosion fracture fatigue creep embitterment behavior of welded joints and materials used in oil and gas industry Shall have experience of working to and fully conversant with international codes ANSI ASME ASTM API BS EN MSS ISO etc used in oil and gas industry and preferably with PDO Technical Standards

Responsibilities

Prepare review and approve proposed welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records Guide Corrosion and materials departments on the material selection with respect to welding as on when required Advise and guide in developing and qualifying welding procedure specifications Develop Welding specifications to ensure integrity of equipment and facilities used in PDO Carry out failure analysis and find solutions to welding related problems

Qualification:-

Shall be a post graduate qualification in Welding Engineering or Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineer with IWE/EWE certification. Welding Inspection Personnel qualifications such as CSWIP/AWS shall not substitute as an acceptable qualification for Welding Engineer in lieu of the requirements given above.
