Job Description
Position: Welding Engineer
Location
Modular Fabrication Yard (Oshore Oil & Gas Projects)
Key Responsibilities
Welding Engineering & Planning
- Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specications (WPS), Procedure Qualication Records (PQR), and Welding Method Statements.
- Ensure welding activities comply with applicable project specications and industry standards.
- Review fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and welding requirements before production.
- Prepare welding execution plans in coordination with Production, Planning, and QA/QC teams.
- Select suitable welding processes, consumables, and equipment for various materials and applications.
Fabrication Support
- Provide technical guidance to Welding Supervisors, Welding Foremen, and welders.
- Resolve welding-related technical issues during fabrication and assembly.
- Monitor welding productivity and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support modular fabrication activities including:
- Structural fabrication
- Piping fabrication
- Pressure-containing equipment
- Oshore process modules
- Skids and equipment packages
Welder Qualication & Training
- Coordinate welder qualication tests as per project requirements.
- Evaluate welder performance and maintain qualication records.
- Conduct training and awareness programs on welding procedures and quality requirements.
- Ensure only qualied welders are deployed for specic welding activities.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with approved WPS and welding procedures.
- Monitor weld quality and implement preventive measures to reduce repair rates.
- Coordinate with QC inspectors and NDT teams.
- Review NDT reports and investigate welding defects.
- Initiate corrective and preventive actions for recurring quality issues.
- Monitor weld repair trends and implement improvement initiatives.
Material & Consumable Control
- Manage welding consumables in accordance with project specications.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, baking, and issue of electrodes and ller materials.
- Review consumable certicates and material traceability requirements.
- Coordinate with warehouse and QA/QC personnel regarding consumable control procedures.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain welding documentation and project records.
- Prepare:

- Repair analysis reports
- Productivity reports
- Consumable usage reports
- Ensure proper documentation for client audits and inspections.
Client & Third-Party Coordination
- Interface with client representatives, classication societies, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Support external audits and technical reviews.
- Attend quality and production meetings.
- Present welding performance metrics and improvement plans.
HSE Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and procedures.
- Promote safe welding practices within fabrication areas.
- Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
- Ensure welding operations are carried out safely and e¢iciently.
Qualification
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or equivalent.
Professional Certications (Preferred)
- CSWIP 3.1/3.2
- AWS Certied Welding Inspector (CWI)
- International Welding Engineer (IWE)
- NACE Certication (desirable)

Experience
- Minimum 8-12 years of welding engineering experience in Oil & Gas, O¢shore, EPC, Heavy Fabrication, or Modular Construction Projects.
- Minimum 5 years in a modular fabrication yard or o¢shore construction environment.
- Hands-on experience in fabrication of:
- O¢shore topsides
- Process modules
- Structural steel
- Pressure vessels
- Piping systems
