Job summary

Al Ghalbi International - OMAN is seeking a Welding Engineer for the Maintenance and Integrity contract in North Oman. The role requires 6–8 years of onshore oil and gas experience, with strong expertise in welding processes, materials and corrosion concerns, and familiarity with international codes (ANSI/ASME, API, ISO).

The successful candidate will prepare welding procedures, guide materials selection, and develop specifications to ensure the integrity of equipment used in PDO.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate welding engineering or Mechanical/Metallurgical degree with IWE/EWE certification.
  • 6–8 years in onshore oil and gas facilities with welding expertise and knowledge of codes.
  • CSWIP/AWS qualifications do not substitute for the required Welding Engineer qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and approve welding procedures and PQRs.
  • Advise on material selection with respect to welding.
  • Develop welding specifications to ensure equipment integrity.
  • Carry out failure analysis and solve welding-related problems.

Job description

Project: Maintenance and Integrity contract - North OMAN


Position: Welding Engineer


Experience:-

Shall have at least 6 to 8 years relevant experience in the construction of onshore oil & gas or petrochemical industry facilities (pressure vessels, tanks, mechanical fabrication, pipelines, piping, etc.).
Shall demonstrate sound technical knowledge and extensive experience in welding processes (SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.), materials, welding and fabrication methods in onshore oil and gas industry. Expert knowledge in welding of high strength pipeline steels and improved corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) used in oil and gas industry is a must.
Shall have sound technical knowledge of corrosion / fracture / fatigue / creep / embitterment behavior of welded joints and materials used in oil and gas industry.
Shall have experience of working to and fully conversant with international codes (ANSI/ASME, ASTM, API, BS, EN, MSS, ISO, etc.) used in oil and gas industry, and preferably with PDO Technical Standards.


Qualification:-

Shall be a post graduate qualification in Welding Engineering or Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineer with IWE/EWE certification. Welding Inspection Personnel qualifications such as CSWIP/AWS shall not substitute as an acceptable qualification for Welding Engineer in lieu of the requirements given above.


Responsibilities:-

Prepare, review and approve proposed welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records.
Guide Corrosion and materials departments on the material selection with respect to welding as on when required.
Advise and guide in developing and qualifying welding procedure specifications.
Develop Welding specifications to ensure integrity of equipment and facilities used in PDO.


Carry out failure analysis and find solutions to welding related problems.
