Job summary

Converra Consulting in Muscat, Oman, is seeking a Senior Project Control & Planning Engineer to own schedule integrity on a long-term maintenance contract. You will review contractor schedules, track progress across site clusters and lead a team of area planning engineers.

The role requires 15+ years in oil and gas project management, Primavera P6 proficiency, and SAP knowledge, with direct experience on major national assets in Oman. This is a full-time, project-based position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review contractor execution schedules and challenge planning logic in Primavera P6.
• Monitor baseline progress and track planning readiness across site clusters.
• Prepare weekly/monthly progress reports, look-aheads and dashboards for management.
• Coordinate with maintenance planners and contractor's execution managers; flag delays with mitigations.
• Align schedule progress with work order systems and governance processes.
• Lead and quality check cluster-based maintenance planning teams.

Job description

We are scaling up a maintenance project in Oman and have an opportunity for a Senior Project Control & Planning Engineer to join the team at this stage.

This role owns schedule integrity for the contract, reviewing the main contractor's execution schedule, tracking progress across all site clusters, and leading the team's area based planning engineers.

Reporting Line

This role reports to the Technical Services Manager and liaises with planning functions across the main contractor's organisation and the asset owner.

Key Responsibilities

• Review the main contractor's execution schedule, check and challenge the planning logic, and review the detailed plans in Primavera P6.
• Monitor the baseline, measure progress, and track planning compliance and readiness across all site clusters.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, 14 day look aheads, 90 day plans and dashboards for the project's management meeting cycle.
• Support resource optimisation and prioritisation with the main contractor's execution managers, and give early warning of delays with mitigation options.
• Align schedule progress with the main contractor's work order system. Work order entries themselves are made by the main contractor's own team.
• Lead and quality check the work of the cluster based Maintenance Planners.

Candidate Requirements

• Candidates must have a proven background managing, executing or governing long-term maintenance contracts, brownfield projects or service agreements.
• Candidates must have direct, hands‑on experience on major national oil company assets in Oman, with strong familiarity with operator HSE procedures and technical specifications.
• Candidates must have demonstrated operational and technical expertise on oil and gas maintenance projects, across upstream, midstream or downstream facilities.
• Minimum 15 years of project management experience on oil and gas facilities.
• Primavera P6 proficiency is essential, and working knowledge of SAP is required.
• Engineering degree. Professional institute membership preferred.

Location and Engagement

Muscat, Oman. This is a full-time, project-based position. The engagement runs through an initial mobilisation phase followed by the main execution phase of a multi-year contract.
