Job summary

NTG is seeking a Senior Liferay Engineer to lead the development of a national portal in Muscat. You'll be responsible for end-to-end portal customization, from backend OSGi modules to a bilingual React-based frontend.

The ideal candidate will have robust experience in Liferay, Java programming, and API integrations. This position demands excellent skills in building large-scale, multitenant portals with a keen focus on performance and usability for millions of citizens.

Build and run the enterprise portal millions of citizens log into, full stack Liferay from OSGi services to its React based front end, bilingual and built for national scale.

We are hiring a Senior Liferay Engineer, on site in Muscat, to own the portal a nation reaches its government through.

What you'll do

Build and customize the Liferay portal end to end, from back end services to the front end citizens see.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and customize the Liferay portal across the full stack, for a multitenant, national audience
• Develop OSGi modules, portlets, and Service Builder back end services
• Build the front end with Liferay client extensions and its React based design system
• Implement theming and a fully bilingual experience, with first class Arabic right to left
• Integrate the portal with platform APIs and federated identity and single sign on
• Engineer for performance, caching, and scale under heavy citizen traffic
• Plan and run Liferay upgrades, and keep customizations clean and upgrade safe
• Set portal standards and reusable patterns, and mentor Liferay developers

• You know Liferay deeply: OSGi modules, portlets, and Service Builder
• You can build the Liferay front end too, with client extensions and its design system
• You are a strong Java engineer, and you keep customizations upgrade safe
• You have integrated portals with APIs and single sign on
• You hold a Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• You have handled Arabic right to left or another multilingual portal, and you know the traps
• Bonus points for large, multitenant, or government portal deployments
• Fluent English required; Arabic is a valuable advantage
