Role Objective
To drive business growth for AIS Chemistry and Microbiology laboratory services by developing customer relationships identifying new business opportunities and exploring commercially viable testing parameters and services in coordination with the laboratory teams
Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development and Revenue Growth
- Support the Business Development Manager in implementing business development plans for Chemistry and Microbiology laboratory services
- Identify pursue and develop new business opportunities across existing and potential customer segments
- Promote the full range of AIS Chemistry and Microbiology laboratory services to customers and prospective clients
- Identify opportunities to increase business from existing customers through additional testing requirements parameters and recurring testing programs
- Develop new customer relationships through customer visits meetings networking referrals and market engagement
- Follow up on business leads quotations proposals and customer inquiries through to commercial closure
- Contribute toward the achievement of assigned laboratory revenue sales customer acquisition and business growth targets
- Maintain an active pipeline of business opportunities and regularly report progress to the Business Development Manager
New Parameters and Service Development
- Identify potential new testing parameters and laboratory services based on market demand customer requirements regulatory developments and emerging industry needs
- Engage with existing and prospective customers to understand new or changing testing requirements
- Assess the commercial potential of proposed new parameters including expected demand potential customers business volume and market opportunity
- Coordinate with the Chemistry and Microbiology Lab Leads to evaluate the technical feasibility of proposed parameters and services
- Prepare or contribute to business cases and recommendations for introducing new laboratory parameters and services
- Support the commercial introduction and promotion of newly approved testing capabilities for timely resolution
- Coordinate customer complaints and service concerns with the relevant laboratory and operational teams
Customer Relationship and Customer Service
- Act as a key commercial contact for customers using AIS Chemistry and Microbiology laboratory services
- Build and maintain strong professional and long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers
- Understand customer businesses testing requirements service expectations and future needs
- Provide customers with accurate information regarding available laboratory services testing parameters sample requirements turnaround times and commercial terms in coordination with the relevant teams
- Proactively follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional business
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and coordinate internally
Market Intelligence and Business Opportunity Analysis
- Monitor market trends regulatory developments customer requirements and developments within the laboratory-testing sector
- Gather information on competitor services testing capabilities pricing trends turnaround times and market positioning
- Identify gaps between AIS s existing laboratory services and market requirements
- Identify promising customer segments industries testing requirements and market opportunities for future development
- Recommend potential areas of business expansion to the Business Development Manager
- Provide market and customer intelligence to support laboratory development and business-planning decisions
Commercial Proposals and Opportunity Management
Internal Coordination
- Work closely with the Business Development Manager Chemistry Lab Lead Microbiology Lab Lead Business Operations Quality Finance and other relevant functions
- Coordinate customer requirements with laboratory and operational teams to support effective service delivery
- Communicate major customer requirements anticipated sample volumes new opportunities and business priorities to relevant internal stakeholders
- Participate in customer commercial laboratory and business-planning meetings as required
- Provide laboratory teams with customer and market feedback that may support service improvement and development of new capabilities
- Escalate significant customer commercial or business risks to the Business Development Manager
Business Performance and Reporting
- Maintain updated records of business-development activities customer visits opportunities quotations and conversions
- Prepare periodic reports on pipeline status customer activities new business opportunities proposed parameters and market developments
- Monitor assigned business-development and revenue targets
Education and Experience
University Degree in Food Technology or a similar fieldA master s in marketing will be an added advantageExperience: (Years and nature of experience)Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role in a third-party testing laboratory.
Special Skills & Knowledge
- Good understanding of food science and food technology.
- Thorough working knowledge of Chemistry and Microbiology laboratory testing services and commonly required testing parameters.
- Understanding of the commercial application of laboratory parameters within the food and related sectors.
- General understanding of laboratory workflows, sample requirements, testing processes, and turnaround times.
- General awareness of ISO/IEC 17025 and laboratory accreditation requirements.
- Understanding of relevant food regulatory and customer testing requirements.
