Job summary

SGS is seeking an experienced HSE Officer to support a 30‑day oil and gas shutdown project in Oman. The role requires hands‑on shutdown experience, NEBOSH IGC or equivalent HSSE certification, and at least 5 years in the oil and gas sector with 2+ years in the GCC region.

Strong English communication is essential. The candidate will monitor activities, conduct inspections, lead toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with HSE policies during critical shutdown operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
• At least 2 years of experience in the GCC region.
• NEBOSH IGC, Diploma in Safety or Level 3 HSSE certification.
• Fluency in English with strong reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shutdown activities for HSE compliance with policies and regulations.
• Conduct site safety inspections and identify hazards with corrective actions.
• Ensure safe work practices during maintenance and shutdown operations.
• Monitor permit-to-work compliance and safety requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and HSSE awareness sessions.
• Report incidents and near misses and support investigations.

SGS is looking for experienced HSE Officers to support an upcoming shutdown project with a leading oil and gas client in Oman.

• This is a temporary assignment for approximately 30 days.
• The shutdown is scheduled to commence on 8 November 2026.
• Selected candidates may be required to mobilize on or before 4 November 2026.

This is a time-sensitive opportunity for qualified HSE professionals with hands-on oil and gas shutdown experience who can contribute to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance during critical shutdown activities.
