Job summary

SGS is seeking an experienced HSE Officer for a 30-day oil and gas shutdown project in Sohar, Oman. The role focuses on monitoring HSE compliance, conducting site inspections, and maintaining safe operations during shutdown activities.

You will lead toolbox talks, manage permit-to-work, report incidents, coordinate with contractors and the client, and maintain HSE records. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in engineering, NEBOSH IGC (or Diploma), and at least five years in oil and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• NEBOSH IGC, Diploma or Level 3 HSSE certification is required.
• Minimum five years oil and gas experience.
• At least two years GCC experience.
• Previous shutdown project experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor HSE compliance on site.
• Conduct site inspections during shutdown.
• Identify hazards and corrective actions.
• Support safe maintenance and shutdown activities.
• Manage permit-to-work requirements.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Report incidents and near misses.
• Support investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate with contractors and client.
• Maintain HSE records and reports.
