Job summary

IHG is seeking a Pastry Helper to assist the Pastry Chef and bakery team in daily production of pastries, desserts, breads, and other bakery items at our Oman location. You will help with basic food prep, measure ingredients, and keep workstations clean and organized.

You will also assist with decorating and finishing pastries under guidance. Join a fast-paced kitchen where teamwork, food safety, and attention to detail are essential as you support high-volume production and ensure quality

Qualifications

• Previous bakery, pastry kitchen, hotel, restaurant, or catering operation experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of pastry and bakery preparation advantageous.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures.
• Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and sanitation.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop pastry preparation skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pasry Chef and pastry team with daily production and preparation.
• Measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and instructions.
• Assist with the preparation of doughs, creams, fillings, batters, and other pastry products.
• Support the preparation, baking, decorating, and finishing of pastries and desserts.
• Prepare ingredients and equipment before production and ensure the workstation is properly organized.
• Assist with decorating cakes, pastries, and desserts as directed by the Pastry Chef.
• Maintain proper storage and labeling of ingredients and prepared products.
• Check ingredients for quality, freshness, and expiry dates.
• Keep pastry equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas clean and sanitized.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing pastry ingredients and supplies.
• Minimize food waste and use ingredients efficiently.
• Clean and properly store equipment and utensils after use.
• Follow instructions from the Pasry Chef and senior kitchen staff.
• Support the team during busy service periods, special events, and high-volume production.
• Perform other reasonable duties related to pastry and kitchen operations as assigned.
