Job summary

Pact Group in Dunedin is seeking a warm, energetic Community Support Worker (full-time) to help rangatahi build confidence, life skills and stability. You will work both independently and with a close-knit team, delivering structured support and meaningful activities while fostering connection with whānau and community.

The role emphasizes calm leadership, resilience, and clear communication, with weekend shifts required. Training and development are supported by the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience with youth or challenging behaviours (professional or personal).
• Calm, confident communication in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Support young people to engage in meaningful activities (sport, fishing, swimming, walking, etc.).
• Help rangatahi reconnect with whānau, culture and community.
• Model emotional regulation, resilience and positive life skills.
• Provide hands-on routines, wellbeing and goal setting support.
• Assist with driving goals (licence, housing, education or employment).
• Maintain home structure and calmly manage behavioural challenges.
• Encourage learning through fun, trust and respectful relationships.
• Maintain clear documentation and communicate with whānau, professionals and colleagues.
