Job summary

Blue Light is a national youth development organisation seeking a passionate Youth Programmes youth worker to support positive change and safer communities in Papakura, Auckland. You will work directly with young people and whānau, developing and delivering youth programmes.

Role reports to the Programmes Team Lead and involves collaboration with police and community providers, with opportunities to participate in residential camps up to six weeks per year.

Qualifications

• A clean NZ driver licence.
• Ability to attend residential camps up to 6 weeks per year.
• Ability to work independently, manage time and stay organised.
• Experience in writing and delivering youth programmes.
• Excellent administration skills.
• Adventure based qualification or teaching qualification preferred.
• NZ residency or valid NZ work visa.

• Working with young people using a pro‑social approach to reduce re‑offending.
• Working closely and collaboratively with New Zealand Police.

Due to significant growth in demand for our programmes and services, we are seeking a passionate Youth Programmes youth worker to join our dedicated team.

What We’re Looking For

• A clean full NZ driver licence

• The ability to attend (and stay at) residential based camps up to 6 weeks per year (Life-skills, Voyages and Awhitu)

• The ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and stay organised

• Experience in writing and delivering youth programmes

• Excellent administration skills

• Adventure based qualification or experience in activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking or high ropes (not required but preferable) or a teaching qualification

• A genuine passion for working with young people in the youth charity sector

• Motivated, outcomes‑focused, and able to thrive in a role that offers challenge, variety, and impact
