Job summary

Western Bay of Plenty District Council seeks a dynamic library professional for a fixed-term 14-month parental leave cover starting early January 2027 at Te Puke Library and Service Centre. The role focuses on developing and delivering library programmes for children and youth and engaging with whānau to spark reading, technology, and creativity.

The successful candidate will have a Level 5 library qualification and at least 2 years of relevant experience, with the ability to lead innovative

Qualifications

• Level 5 library qualification or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of children's librarianship, planning and programming delivery.
• Based in Te Puke Library and Service Centre; Monday to Friday 40hrs per week, with some rostered Saturdays by agreement.
• Ability to engage with the community and deliver innovative library programmes, events and services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver library programmes for children and youth.
• Lead and promote library events and services with a collaborative approach.
