Job summary

Top Steel Contracting Limited is seeking a Full time permanent Welder/Fabricator to join our busy and growing company. The position offers a minimum of 30 hours per week and a maximum of 45 hours per week, with wages ranging from NZD 30.00 to NZD 40.00 per hour based on experience. Applicants should pass a background check and be physically fit for heavy lifting.

NZ citizens or residents are preferred. The role involves reading blueprints, welding in TIG/MIG/Arc, ensuring safety, and following

Qualifications

  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Experience in TIG/MIG/Arc welding
  • Strong ability to read plans/drawings
  • Must follow all safety policies and wear PPE
  • Must be able to read and interpret welding symbols, plans, blueprints and sketches
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Align components using callipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • Must be able to position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units or subunits by following blueprints and layout specifications using jigs, welding equipment and hand tools to ensure it meets measurements and specifications outlined in drawings
  • Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and bathing in acidic solutions
  • Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
  • Assembling, installing and repairing pipe components and systems according to specifications
  • Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI and ASME codes and standard
  • Candidate should be able to install flashing and aluminium cladding
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, digger, truck etc.)

Job description

Full time permanent Welder/ Fabricator is required for our busy and growing company. The minimum work will be 30 hours pw and maximum will be 45 hours pw. The minimum wage is $30.00 ph and maximum wages will be $40.00 ph based on experience. Candidates should p ass a background check and be physically fit and able to heavy lifting.
