Job summary

Far North District Council is seeking an experienced Waters Asset Manager to lead the strategy, planning and delivery of water supply and wastewater assets, ensuring regulatory compliance and community alignment.

You will develop asset management plans, lifecycle/renewal strategies, oversee performance monitoring, and provide technical leadership while engaging with internal and external stakeholders to support long-term investment decisions.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in water supply and wastewater asset management.
• Proven experience developing and implementing asset management plans.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure asset lifecycle planning and renewal programmes.
• Experience working with asset management systems, GIS, and data analytics.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to analyse complex information and translate it into practical, strategic outcomes.
• Collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of Water and Wastewater Asset Management Plans.
• Develop asset lifecycle, renewal and investment strategies.
• Provide technical leadership and expert asset management advice.
• Support business case development and long-term infrastructure planning.
• Oversee asset condition assessment and performance monitoring programmes.
• Ensure asset information is accurate and supports decision-making.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Support regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to strategic planning and organisational objectives.
