Job summary

Retailworld Resourcing partners with a leading New Zealand furniture retailer to establish the South Island DC by Christchurch Airport. You will rapidly set up operations, processes, and safety standards for this new site.

Lead a team of 3 warehouse staff, manage inbound/outbound logistics, 3PL coordination, and ensure accurate, on-time dispatches while upholding top customer service and stock accuracy. Forklift endorsement and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years minimum experience in Warehouse Management, DC Operations or Logistics Leadership.
• Hands-on leadership from the floor, including devanning and heavy lifting.
• Experience with inbound container flow, freight coordination and 3PL operations.

Responsibilities

• DC setup and operations for a new South Island facility.
• Lead a team of 3 warehouse staff to maintain productivity and morale.
• Inbound and outbound logistics management, 3PL coordination, and outbound dispatch.
• Ensure accurate, on-time dispatches and strong customer service.
• Regular stock counts, shrink/damage prevention, and accurate WMS records.
• Enforce health & safety compliance and forklift/equipment standards.

Key Responsibilities

• DC Setup & Operations: Rapidly establish operational workflows, inventory location systems, and safety standards for the new South Island facility.
• Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with a team of 3 warehouse staff to maintain high productivity and morale.
• Inbound & Outbound Logistics: Oversee container devanning, heavy furniture handling, 3PL partner coordination, and outbound dispatch to ensure prompt customer and store deliveries.
• Customer-Centric Operations: Ensure accurate, on-time dispatches to uphold brand reputation and deliver exceptional customer service.
• Inventory Control & Quality: Conduct regular stock counts, manage shrink and damage prevention, and ensure accurate WMS recording.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Implement and maintain robust H&S standards, safe manual handling practices, and forklift/equipment compliance.

What We Are Looking For

• Availability: Available for an immediate start(or short notice) is preferred.
• Experience: 3+ years minimum experience in Warehouse Management, DC Operations, or Logistics Leadership.
• Hands-on & Physically Fit: Comfortable leading from the floor, stepping in with devanning, heavy lifting (bulky goods & furniture), and daily operational tasks.
• Logistics & 3PL Expertise: Solid understanding of inbound container flow, freight coordination, and 3PL operations.
• Systems & Licenses: Proven track record with WMS systems, stock reconciliation, valid driver's license, and Forklift Endorsement (F & OSH
