Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau is seeking a motivated Ward Clerk to join Ward 5, Health of Older People at Middlemore Hospital. You will support admissions, transfers and discharges, keep patient records accurate and help the ward run smoothly.

You will work closely with nurses, doctors and the broader team, manage enquiries, update electronic systems and maintain an organised ward office while upholding confidentiality and respectful care.

Qualifications

• At least one year experience in a service-based environment.
• Proficiency in Windows-based computer software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Fast and accurate data entry with good organisation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Maintain accurate patient records.
• Update information in electronic patient management systems.
• Manage enquiries and messages.
• Ensure clinical documentation is organised and readily available to authorised staff.
• Order stationery and supplies.
• Monitor stock levels and maintain an organised ward office environment.
• Work with the Charge Nurse Manager and multidisciplinary team to run the ward efficiently.
