Job summary

OceanaGold’s Waihi mine is seeking an Underground Mobile Maintenance technician to perform routine and repair work on the underground pump station and related equipment. You will maintain pumping and dewatering systems to high safety and performance standards, and assist with light fabrication on site.

Join a dedicated team at the Waihi operation with a residential role, competitive pay, and a roster of 8 days on, 6 days off.

Qualifications

• First Aid Certificate is required.
• Full driver licence with ability to drive manual transmission.
• Mechanical trade qualification (Fitter, Machinist or Boilermaker) preferred.
• Experience in heavy industrial engineering environment.
• Experience maintaining Mono or Centrifugal type pumps highly regarded.
• Underground mining experience preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Join the Underground Mobile Maintenance team and provide an effective maintenance function at the Waihi mine site.
• Perform scheduled and breakdown maintenance of pumping and dewatering systems.
• Carry out pump rebuilds and repairs.
• Promote safety, productivity and cost-effective improvements.
• Carry out light engineering and fabrication tasks on mobile plant and equipment onsite.
• Collaborate with other site teams to meet production targets safely.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Underground Mobile Maintenance team at our Waihi mine, situated at the gateway to the stunning Coromandel region. In this role you will carry out routine mechanical maintenance and repairs of the underground pump station, pumping and service auxiliary equipment to the required standards of performance and safety.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Working as part of the maintenance team, providing an effective and responsive maintenance function to the site.
• Performing scheduled and breakdown maintenance of all pumping and dewatering systems
• Pump rebuilds and repairs.
• Actively promote, seek out and participate in drives that will lead to improvements in safety, productivity and cost effectiveness.
• Carrying out light engineering and fabrication tasks on mobile plant and equipment onsite, supporting the underground mine.
• Working closely with other teams at site to ensure that production targets are safely met, while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Qualifications

• First Aid Certificate.
• Full driver licence, ability to drive manual vehicles required.
• Mechanical trade qualification - Mechanical Fitter, Machinist or Boilermaker - Preferred.
• Heavy industrial engineering environment experience.
• Experience maintaining Mono or Centrifugal type pumps highly regarded.
• Underground mining experience preferred but not essential.
