Job summary

HUMMER TRANSPORT LIMITED in Wellington seeks a Class 5 truck driver for a full-time role in Wellington. The position is 30–40 hours per week, 5 days, with occasional weekend work and possible night driving in the Wellington/Wairarapa region.

You will position vehicles, load/unload with lifting devices, ensure safety, perform pre-drive checks, estimate weights, secure cargo, and verify loading documents. Applications from NZ citizens/residents or valid visa holders are welcome.

Qualifications

• At least one year of relevant driving experience or a Secondary School qualification.
• NZ full driving license or overseas license with ability to gain NZ license.
• NZ citizen/resident or valid visa with work rights.

Responsibilities

• Positioning vehicles for loading and unloading.
• Comfortable using lifting and tipping devices for loading and unloading.
• Ensure safety requirements are met while loading and unloading vehicles.
• Making regular quality checks of the truck to ensure they are safe to drive.
• Estimating weights to comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight.
• Ensuring goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and damage.
• Verifying loading documents, checking condition of goods and obtaining certification of deliveries.

We are looking for a truck driver (class 5) in a full time role based in Wellington. The role is for a minimum of 30 hours per week to max 40 hours per week for 5 days per week and occassionally over the weekends. The work may include driving at night within Wellington/Wairarappa region.

The job responsibilities are as below.
